THE REGIONAL FOOD GROUP FOR YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER

In 2007 Miller Food Service realised the increasing demand for local produce within the food industry, this coincided with the ever increasing need to reduce the negative effects all businesses have on the environment. In order to combine these two aspects Millers decided that if they were to stock more local produce it would give them a point of difference from other food wholesale companies and help reduce world food miles at the same time.

As a result we became members of the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber. This has proved beneficial and introduced us to a number of local producers who can offer excellent products all with full traceability. It has also enabled us to support smaller companies within the local economy as well as national branded companies.

We are one of the only delivered wholesalers within the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber offering a range of frozen, chilled, ambient and non food. Within this range we use the following suppliers who are all Yorkshire Based, Blue Keld, Taylors of Harrogate, Yorvale, Salad Garden, Westlers, Whitby Seafoods and Roberts.

In the future Miller Food Service hope to work closely with the regional food group to source, distribute and increase awareness of more local produce.
